CHAPTER I
DISCUSSION

A.    Story Comedy
1.      Obeying Mother
One day there was a mother cooking in the kitchen. Then she called her son who was watching TV in the living room. “Budi buy me a packet of salt in Mrs. Inah’s shop!” Her mother begged. “Take this money but remember that the shop is across the street. You have to be careful. Do not cross the street before the car passes first, “her mother warned.”Alright mom” replied Budi.

After arriving near the shop, she was surprised to see the Budi stood motionless on the roadside. “Why are you so long?” asked her mother. “I cannot cross this street mom” she was wonder and asked “why does it so? The street was very quiet, right? “”That is right, I want to cross the street but there is no car which passing by” Budi replied. “How can be like that?” her mother getting surprised. “You told me that don’t cross the street before the car pass first and now I am waiting for the car to pass first. Therefore I cannot cross this street “replied Budi. His mother could only be silent.

conclusion
A child in order to buy food by his mother but did not cross the road because there are no cars passing in front of him because in ingati by her mother not to be crossed before any cars passing by.

2.      A Poor Man in The Bar
When I was having lunch at the bar near terminal, suddenly there was an old man crying. I came over to his table and asked “sorry sir, why are you crying?” “I have a wife at home, but she always wakes me up when I sleep in the morning and makes me breakfast every day.” He said. Then I continued to ask “then why are you crying?” He replied that his wife always made soup for lunch and a cup of hot coffee for him in the afternoon.

With a little annoyed I asked him back “Then what is wrong with all of that, sir?” The old man replied that his wife always made his favorite dishes for dinner and always sang a song until he fell asleep. With a high tone I asked “then what is the problem? you should be grateful to have a good wife as yours!” “I do not remember where my house is” he replied. I couldn’t say anything.

3.      Dedi’s Heroic Actions
In a mental hospital, there are two patients named Didi and Dedi. They both were playing the water in a swimming pool of the mental hospital. Suddenly Didi who could not swim drowned and sank into the pool. Dedi who saw the incident immediately swam to save him.

The head of mental hospital heard about the heroic actions that have been done by Dedi to save Didi. The head of mental hospital called Dedi to see him at the office. “you are very brave Dedi and I think you have recovered from your illness and return to normal” he said.  Dedi just nodded her head. “But there is bad news. I have to tell that your friends you’ve saved was died. He hanged himself in the backyard” The head of mental hospital added. “He should thank to me because I was the man who hung him in the backyard so that he became dry. Because he was wet from falling out of the pool” said Dedi. The head of mental hospital shocked and fainted after hearing Dedi’s answers.

1.      The legend of the ghost Cut mouth
There is a legend in Japan and China, which tells the story of a girl named Kuchisake–Onna. Some people say that she was the wife of a samurai. One day, he had an affair with a man who is younger and more handsome. When her husband came home, he found his wife’s betrayal. Because wrath, he took his sword and ripping off his wife’s mouth from right ear to left ear. Some say thatthe woman is cursed to never die, and until now is still wandering in the world.

2.      The Legend Of The White Death
This is a story about a little girl in Scotland who hated his own life until finally decided to commit suicide, and shortly thereafter his family knows what he has done.
Horrifying story begins when all the members of his family was found dead a few days later with a leg torn apart. Anyone who has studied about the White Death will come face to face with the ghost of the girl. He will come to find you and knocked You out loud. When you open the door, he will kill you because ofYour fear of divulging its existence to others.

3.      The Legend Of Elisa Day
In medieval Europe, lived a young woman named Elisa to behold the beauty of the Day, which is describedas a beautiful rose. One day, a young man comes to town and immediately fell in love with Elisa. They laterdated for three days.
On the first day, the man visited the House of Elisha. The second day, he sang Elisa sprig of red roses and asked her to meet him in where the wild roses grow. On the third day, he brought Elisa to the river where he later killed him.

The man was killed by Elisha menghantamkan rock into the girl’s head and whispered: “all beauty must die”.Some people claim to have seen the ghostly figure of Elisha who roam the River, blood seems to flow on the side of his head while holding a sprig of roses in her hand.

C.                   hero story

1.     Ki Hajar Dewantara

Raden Mas Soewardi Soeryaningrat was born in Yogyakarta on May 2nd 1889. He came from Pakualaman family, the son of GPH Soerjaningrat, grandson of Pakualam III and grew up in a family of Yogyakarta Kingdom. Then, in 1922 when he was 40 years old (according to the count of Caka Year), Raden Mas Soewardi Soeryaningrat changed his name to Ki Hadjar Dewantara. Since that time, he was no longer using a knighthood in front of his name. Based on the Indonesian spelling in since 1972, its name is misspelled as Ki Hajar Dewantara.

Ki Hajar Dewantara ever studied at Europeesche Lagere School (ELS) at the Dutch colonial era it is an elementary school in Indonesia. After graduating from ELS, then he went to STOVIA (Bumiputera Medical School) is a school for the education of indigenous doctors in Batavia in the Dutch colonial era. This time it became the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia. Although he did not could not complete his education because of illness.

Ki Hajar Dewantara worked as a writer and journalist in various newspapers, such as: Tjahaja Timoer, Midden Java, De Expres, Sediotomo, Kaoem Moeda, Poesara, and Oetoesan Indies. His writing is very communicative and brave with anti-colonial spirit. Besides work as a writer, he is also active in social and political organizations. Since 1908, the beginning of the Boedi Utomo (BO), he was active in the propaganda section to socialize and Indonesian public awareness about the importance of a sense of unity in the nation.

Not only that, it turns Ki Hajar Dewantara also known as a prominent pioneer of education for the natives of Indonesia from the Dutch colonial era. In fact, he managed to establish a school of the National University Student Park (National Institute of Taman Siswa Onderwijs) on July 3rd 1922. At first the Dutch colonial government attempted to deter his plan. Dutch government issued a Wild School Ordinance on October 1st 1932. However, because of his persistence and struggle, the ordinance was finally lifted. The college emphasizes a sense of nationality to indigenous education so that they love the nation and homeland and fight for independence.

Ki Hajar Dewantara’s been appointed as Minister of Teaching Indonesia referred to as the Minister of Education, Teaching and Culture in the cabinet of the first Republic of Indonesia. For his service pioneered education in Indonesia, in 1957 he received an honorary doctorate (doctor honoris causa, Dr.H.C.) of the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM).

Finally, he was declared as Father of National Education of Indonesia, as well as his birth day serves as National Education Day. Ki Hajar Dewantara died on 26th April 1959 in Yogyakarta. He was buried at the Taman Wijaya Brata, tombs for Taman Siswa’s family. His face was also immortalized on the Indonesian currency denomination of old 20,000 rupiahs.
 
 

2.    RA Kartini

One of very famous female figures in Indonesia is Raden Ajeng Kartini. She is also commonly known as R.A Kartini. She is known as one of the national hero determined to fight for the emancipation of women.

R.A Kartini was born on April 21st 1879 in Jepara. Since the number of services and struggle for people of Indonesia, the day of her birth was celebrated as Kartini Day. Kartini was born in a noble family so she earned R.A (Raden Ajeng) in front of her name. According to Javanese tradition the title used before she got married, while after marriage then knighted used is R.A (Raden Ayu).

Her father named R.M. Sosroningrat is a son of Prince Ario Tjondronegoro IV. At that time, Kartini’s father was a regent in Jepara and an honorable man. Kartini’s mother named M.A. Ngasirah was the son of ‘Kyai’ / religion teacher in Telukawur, Jepara. She was not highborn, but just ordinary people. That’s what makes R.A Kartini must have a stepmother. This is because the Dutch colonial rule requires a regent married to noblesse.

Finally Kartini’s father then married a descendant of Madura’s King noblewoman named Raden Adjeng Woerjan. R.A Kartini was the fifth of 11 siblings, consisting of siblings and half-brother. Nevertheless, she was the oldest of her sisters. As derived from the offspring of nobility, Kartini is entitled to receive a decent education. Then, her father sent her to ELS (Europese Lagere School).

According to Javanese tradition, after the 12 years old, the child should be ‘dipingit‘ (living at home), is no exception for R.A Kartini. However, although she was at home, she still continues to learn. Her lofty ideals are eager to see the indigenous women can study and learn as today. New ideas about emancipation or equality of indigenous women by her, considered a novelty that can change society’s views. In addition, her writings also contain about the significance of belief, wisdom and beauty, humanity and nationalism. Not only that, she also touched on religion, for example, she questioned why a man may practice polygamy, why the holy book should be read and memorized without obligation to understand, and more.

After becoming adult moman, then in 1903 R.A Kartini married a regent of Rembang City named K.R.M. Duke Ario Singgih Djojo Adhiningrat. Although many historians say that the wedding is the insistence of her parents.

 Most people estimate at the time of marriage, Kartini R.A still wants to live freely. But in order to make the hearts of parents happy and proud, she prefers to follow the wishes of her parents. While it is like other destiny.

3.    Soeharto

Retired General of the Indonesian National Army H.M. Soeharto was the second president of Indonesia. He was born on June 8th, 1921 in the small village of Kemusuk, west of Yogyakarta. He is the third son of the couple Mrs. Sukirah (mother) and Mr. Kartosudiro (Father). His father worked as a regulator of the water in Kemusuk village. He is commonly known by the name ‘Pak Harto’ or ‘The father of development’. Even as a child he was also called ‘Den Bagus Tahi Mabul’ (Tahi Kering).

Before becoming the second president of Indonesia, he began his career completely from the bottom, very hard and discipline. At the age of just turned 8 years old, he has been entrusted to her aunt in Waryantoro, Wonogiri (Region east of the Yogyakarta). There, he obtained his education more feasible than in the Kemusuk. It is because of his uncle (Prawirowihardjo) is a paramedic farmer.
Although less than one year, his beloved mother had missed him. So, he was picked up to Kemusuk.

Then, a year later, he was picked up again by the family of Prawirowihardjo to settle down again and studied in Wonogiri. After completion of primary school for 5 years, he finally went to school at Schakel School in Wonogiri. At that time he moved to his sister’s house (Citratani) in Selogiri located around 6 KM from Wonogiri.
